"Kiss Me at Midnight"
TV personality Callie Hutchins is having a meltdown. It's bad enough that fantasies of Marc Shaw—her aggravatingly sexy co-host for a late-night L.A. talk show—invade her dreams. But now ratings for their battle-of-the-sexes segment are slipping. Their boss blames Marc's breakup with his famous ex-girlfriend—the relationship provided fodder for Marc and Callie's verbal sparring. As far as Callie is concerned, Marc is an egotistical womanizer who deserved getting dumped. Is it her fault she's won most of their on- and off-air tussles since?
With Callie, Marc just can't get it right. And that's unfortunate, because he's had her on the brain for months. In fact, he instigated the split because of his growing feelings for Callie, which he stupidly kept to himself out of respect for his ex. Oh, he's tried explaining the tricky P.R., but Callie's turned a deaf ear. So when their boss asks them to brainstorm publicity stunts to top November sweeps, Marc suggests faking an on-air romance. If forcing Callie to play nicely for a few weeks doesn't help him get through to her, nothing will.
Needing the ratings to achieve her dream of migrating to a popular New York morning show, Callie agrees. A little pretend hanky-panky with Marc can be that bad, can it? Much to her surprise...and pleasure, their sizzling, rigged-for-the-audience kisses get the better of her, and next thing she knows they're tumbling into bed. Marc makes her body burn like no man ever has. However, the more time they spend together, the more she realizes he's not the jackass his public persona portrays. He's fun, generous, sexy, and sincere, damn it. Can she give him up when November ends? |
